In addition to the good
upcoming public policy chit-chat this week, we add two notes which will be of particular interest to the journalistically-inclined.
First, on Tuesday March 16 the Canadian Journalism Foundation is hosting a roundtable discussion with four journalists who covered the immediate aftermath of the hurricane in Haiti -a heartbreaking story that was no doubt extremely difficult to cover. The panel will feature Maclean's
Michael Petrou, Toronto Star's
Catherine Porter and Anna Mahler Paperny and
Fernando Morales from the Globe and Mail. Event information is available
here.
Second, the Pew Centre's annual
State of the News Media report was released today. Many lament that we don't have a similarly comprehensive study for the Canadian news media, but there's still much to be learned from
reading Pew's report on the American media.
